Hot, hot, hot--today (and yesterday and tomorrow!) in Melbourne

I'm not usually inclined to post such silliness, but really--this weather is absurd! It's 43 degrees in my kitchen! I was going to review some books, but I can barely think let alone write anything of any value. Maybe next week...

This sculpture is by the wonderful Australian artist Orest Keywan, who won the $30,000 Sulpture by the Sea prize in 2006. So apt in 2009!

I like the pic a lot. Who is the artist? Wicked, wicked sense of humour. Finally finished your book. Big intake of breath. Am digesting now.

Woops--yes, always mention the artist! Sorry, Orest.

That is so funny, It's pretty much how I feel at the moment too. Our school has just had aircon installed so I'm happy to go to work on monday! Last year our classrooms frequently got to about 48 by mid morning.

That's shocking! I write for the teachers' union rag so am constantly visiting schools where classes are run in external portables with no proper heating or cooling and it is such a terrible environment for learning/teaching/concentrating at all. Glad this year's going to be more comfortable for you.
